Sarah Horton has spent weeks trying to get Xander's mom to attend their Days of our Lives wedding. She managed to get an address and send an invitation, but she'll walk down the aisle, not sure if she is going to meet her former and future mother-in-law on her wedding day.
As we see in the DAYS promo, someone is going to make an appearance before the vows are said. Since Theresa and Alex are also trying to get hitched in Horton Town Square, Fiona's arrival could put a crimp in their plans, as well.
In April, DAYS teased the arrival of Serena Scott Thomas, sister of Oscar-nominee Kristin Scott Thomas, in a mystery role. Fans immediately suspected that the mystery role was Xander's heretofore-unseen mom, and now it's been confirmed. Scott Thomas will arrive in Salem in time for her son's nuptials, but will the wedding go off without a hitch?
Considering that Fiona knows that Xander, not Alex, is really Victor Kiriakis' long-lost son, fireworks are sure to fly if she reveals the truth before anyone has a chance to say "I do" -- especially since Theresa already knows the truth. If Alex and Brady learn Theresa is the enemy among them that Konstantin spoke of as he took his last breath, neither man will want to have anything to do with her.
But what is Fiona really like? Could there be a good reason Xander shut her out of his life for so long?
"Fiona comes with her own flair, large and in charge with a twinkle in her eye," Scott Thomas said in the July 15 print edition of TV Guide Magazine.
So far, the actress loves life at DAYS and seems to have a better relationship with Paul Telfer than she does with his alter ego Xander.
"I love him from the moment I saw him in the corridor and he held out his arms and went, 'Mum!'" Scott Thomas said. "He was so sweet, and he took me to lunch."
Look for the big double wedding to get started on Friday, July 19.
